Hello.
I’m Mr. Linen.
I think most people are familiar with the idea of using an iron to create a center crease in denim jeans. It’s a simple styling trick that can change the way jeans look.

A center crease gives denim, which can otherwise look quite rugged and casual, a slightly cleaner and more refined appearance.
Unlike wool trousers, denim is relatively thick, so even when you press a center crease into jeans, the crease will never be quite as sharp or pronounced.
As you walk, sit, and cross your legs, the crease gradually softens. I actually like this effect: the jeans don’t look as though you’ve deliberately pressed them, and the result feels just right.

Without a center crease, jeans can spread out to the sides when you wear them. The hems may catch on the instep of your shoes, and the legs can look wider and more rugged than you intended.

I’ve described this look as a little too rugged, but what I really mean is that it has a strong American casual or workwear feel. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that; it can look great in its own right.
I’m simply saying that this silhouette may not be ideal when you want to wear jeans in a more refined way, perhaps with a tailored jacket.
The obvious way to create a center crease is to iron your jeans before heading out. But honestly, that’s a bit of a hassle, isn’t it?
Some of you may already know this, but you can create a center crease without ironing simply by changing the way you fold your jeans.
There’s no special trick involved. Just fold your jeans the way you would fold a pair of tailored trousers, aligning the fabric so that a crease forms down the center of each leg.
As for where to position the center crease, I find that aligning it with the belt loop closest to the center of the waistband works perfectly.

And that’s it. Your jeans are folded and ready to go.
I hang my jeans this way for storage, but you can also put them in a drawer. Either way, the crease will gradually form as the jeans remain folded.

That’s all for today. I hope you find this little tip useful!
